THE STORY

A simple question became a home in Watamu.

Some places are visited and left behind. Others remain inside you. For Giovanna and Germano, Watamu became one of those places about ten years ago.

GeGi House grew from their love of the coast and from a wish to share the freedom, nature and human warmth that kept bringing them back.

Giovanna and Germano, the hosts of GeGi House

01 · Falling in love

First the light, the ocean and the people

They were drawn to Watamu’s nature, colours, light and ocean. More than anything, they fell in love with the people: their simplicity, their smiles and the natural hospitality that can make a visitor feel at home.

The “Jambo!” at the gate, the care given to the garden and pool, the sounds of Watamu and the warmth of everyday encounters became as important as the landscape itself.

02 · The decision

“Why don’t we buy it?”

During one stay at Rafiki Tamu Resort, where they had rented an apartment, Giovanna and Germano learned that an older owner was selling her house to begin another project.

They went to see it. Then they looked at one another and asked that simple question. What followed was a long road of documents, bureaucracy, patience and determination—until the house finally became theirs.

03 · Making it theirs

Small changes, the same soul

They chose to work on the house gradually, adding comfort and personal details without erasing its character. Step by step, it is becoming more and more their own: a small home in Watamu rather than an impersonal holiday property.

Its name tells the personal story in two syllables: GeGi, from Germano and Giovanna.

04 · The terrace

Where every day begins and ends

Morning light reaches the tropical forest, garden and shared pool while guests can enjoy breakfast outdoors. Later, the terrace becomes a place for a meal, a book, a conversation or simply watching the day pass.

When evening brings a lighter breeze, the sofas become the favourite place to pause and enjoy Watamu without needing to go anywhere else.

05 · Sharing the house

A real welcome, never an anonymous stay

GeGi House is for couples, families and small groups of friends who want tranquillity, nature, privacy and the freedom of a home. It is for travellers who want to feel part of Watamu rather than simply pass through it.

Giovanna and Germano remain the people behind the house. When you write, they are the ones who answer.

Feel a little at home on the other side of the world.

Two bedrooms, two bathrooms, your own kitchen, a terrace made for open-air days and the warmth of a personal welcome: GeGi House is a simple invitation to live Watamu at your own pace.
